The 2005 version of the Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting drew a record crowd of members and guests to Buckeye Hills Career Center on August 13. The morning event, featuring a pancake breakfast, prize drawings, and business meeting, was standing room only again.
This cycle of trustee terms had no elections for places on the cooperative’s governing board. The 2005 Annual Meeting instead was a chance for BREC members to have fun and enjoy fellowship.
The registration gift was an electrical extension cord. Each member attending also received a “goody bag” and had the opportunity to win one of the dozens of prizes donated by vendors or BREC.
Prizes included new freezers filled with pork meat from hogs purchased at the Jackson County Junior Fair; television sets and appliances; power tools; kitchen gadgets; Wal-Mart gift certificates; and cash.
Special prizes were awarded to children attending the meeting.
Holzer Medical Center presented a Health Fair, and clowns were on hands to paint children’s faces and create balloon creatures.
